The Blakiston's Fish-owl is the largest and most endangered species in the owl family due to the widespread loss of riverine forest, and increasing development along rivers and dam construction. Also because because both the woods and fish that it feeds on are disappearing
They can be in Siberia, northeast China and the island of Hokkaido in Japan. The current population in Japan is said to be approximately 100-150 birds
The Blakiston's Fish-owl's nickname is "Philosopher in the wood" because it always give us the impression that it is always seems to be thinking.
Sailor is doing their part to help make public awareness of this endangered birds, Blakish Fish Owl.
Artisan Koushu Nishihara skillfully crafted the Blakiston Fish Owl on the Sailor signature pen 1911.
On the cap, a female fish owl guarding a pair of baby fish owl.
On the barrel, Artisan Koushu Nishihara beautiful represent fish owl preying on a mice. Blakiston's Fish-owls love to have salmon for food. and other kinds of fish as well. No fish, sometimes they even catch rabbit, and duck for prey.
The wing of the fish owl was beautiful dusted with gold dust to give it the precious feel.
Unlike previous year, this year (2010) Sailor only released 3 design in their 88 limited edition. This is the first design of the endangered species: endanaged birds series.
The other two Japanese Paradise Flycatcher and Roseatte Spoonbill
