Sailor Yosegi Zaiku Special Edition Fountain Pen

Yosegi Zaiku (寄木細工) is an unique traditional wood working technique which originated at the end of the Edo era (1603-1868).

The mosaic work is made by making best use of natural fine grains and textures of wood. Timbers of different colors are cut into oblong rods of desired sections.
The rods are then glued together to form the section of geometrical pattern designed. The sectional surface is sliced into thin plates of wood, which are glued onto boxes and other handicraft works. To add to glaze and sturdiness of the surface, finish coatings are applied.

Sailor Japan bring to us this traditional art in the form of a beautiful fountain pen. It is very beautifully made.
And it comes completed with the Sailor 14k gold nib, hence, it write smoothly like the rest of Sailor fountain pens.

The only complain we have is the size. It only comes in standard 1911 standard model, hence, it is a little too small as compare to Sailor pens we are currently using.
Sailor Japan package a little extra for us in this special edition. The Yosegi Zaiku Special Edition fountain pen also comes with a cartidges box which is made using the traditional wood craft too.
