Pen Box/Chest by Aesthetic Bay

This was the wooden pen box/chest that we were using before we upgrade to the 3 tiers pen box sold at Fook Hing Trading.

This is a solid wood pen box/chest was made by Aesthetic Bay for their customer. It is a much heavier as compare to leather chest sold at Fook Hing (FH) due the wooden material.

While this pen is a small box chest, it is not cheaper (slot per pen) as compare to the FH leather box. This Aesthetic Bay pen box might be be costly, but is worth every cents because the finishing is good, the wood grain is beautiful, the weight and the made give you the confidence that it will protect your precious pen.
This pen chest can hold 16 pens. Each layer holding 8 pens. The top layer can hold eight Namiki Emporer size pens, and the lower drawer can hold a Sailor King Of Pen or Namiki Yukari Royale pens.

The lower layer cannot be removed. It doesn't have a hander too. There is a tiny slot at both side of the drawer for you to hold and draw our the drawer, which give you a very simple yet eleagance design.

Like the Fook Hing pen chest, the disadvantage of this pen chest doesn't have a lock.

Malaysia Pen Shop Guide 2010

During my recently travelled (August 2010) to Malaysia capital Kuala Lumpur, I visited two popular pen shops among our fellow Singaporean and a few boutiques. The sales executive is not knowledgable as compare to those we have it here, and the services are not as friendly as I would like it to be.

Here are the shops details with no pictures which I visited. Hope this will help fellows pen users. If you come across any pen shop in Malaysia, do share the information with us to help us keep the list updated.

As we also belive it supporting the local retailors, the Malaysia pen shop is below expectation. Overall, I would give it a 4 out of 10 rating. The services at the boutique are much better.

Their very own ink ...

Unlike Japan, here in Singapore we only have a handful of good pens retailers. E&C is the only retailer who managed to get Namiki and Sailor to create pens just for them, design that is unique and available from their 2 stores. And they come in limited number (limited edition). Of course, all this "just for EC" design come with a premium.

As we are very late in the pen collection, and does have deep pocket, we can only affort a bottle of their "premium" E&C ink.

The picture on the box is Mr. Herman Chan (Owner of E&C) holding his son hand when he was small. Now, the little boy had grow up.

How good is the ink?

With the price we are paying, we perfer to buy a bottle of Sailor, Pilot, Namiki or Omas.
