S.T. Dupont Washington - United States Capital

With the successful of the S.T. Dupont - Tournair partnership, they worked togather again to create the second series of architectural writing instruments, which was inspired by famous monuments all over the world.

The United States Capitol - Washington is the one of the three architectual writing instruments.

This is the third and last pens of the Sailor-Arita Gen Emon Kilin Special Edition. This is the most colorful of the three. This is my favor among the three.

As mentioned in my previously Sailor Kamakura Bori - Hanabishi, this wood crafting technique is more than 700 years old. In the past, it is technique use to craft statues, objects or fixing in Buddhist temples.

The second style of the Gen-Emon is illustrated in this second porcelain pen, Arabesque. Like the previous Gen-Emon Kiln style, it uses only primary color.

Arita is a small town located northern part of Kyushu island. This is the birth place of Japanese porcelain.

A beauty passes by the other day while I was at Fook Hing Trading. It is not the usual beauty that we see at the big screen, or the usual maki-e pens and branded limited edition pens.

Pilot 88th Anniversary Limited Edition

One of our favor anniversary maki-e pen is the Shishi-Komainu, Pilot 88th Anniversary maki-e pen.

A direct translation of Shishi mean lion, and Komainu mean guardian dogs.

The artisan painted the motif of “Komainu” (guardian dogs) on this beautiful annivarsary pen using shishiai-togidashu maki-e technique.
